Title: 'Tabula Russiae ex autographo, quid delineandum curavit....' This contemporary handcoloured engraving is a map published by Blaeu in ca. 1630 as a reissue of Hessel Gerritsz's rare and influential map of Russia.This map was compiled from manuscripts brought back from Russia, by Isaac Massa to whom the large inset plan of Moscow is said to be attributed. Blaeu published it after acquiring the plate after Gerritsz's death in 1632. This edition has Latin text on the verso.On the right is a prospect of Archangelsk.
