A dancing bear, holding a hat, its head turned towards the man who holds the string attached to his muzzle, raising a stick to direct it, who stands to right, while a man to right plays a pipe and tabor (small drum) and a little boy in front of him gesturing to left at a dog in coat and breeches which stands on its hind-legs, while pointing to right at a monkey which sits on the ground, watched by a crowd of men, women and children, amused and fearful in equal measure, in a street which curves tot the right in the background (British Museum).
